So it’s been known for awhile that Sander van Doorns ‘Renegade’ will be this years anthem tune at Trance Energy. I gave some samples a listen to awhile ago, but finally heard a quality version on Sied van Riel’s 028 Podcast.
First thing I thought? “Did DJ Zinc take up trance production?” This may seem far fetched, but DJ Zinc’s “Freenote” is almost a carbon copy of the build up of Renegade. Wait, other way around, since Freenote came out over 7 years ago. Compare these two. 1.) DJ Zinc – Freenote | 2.) Sander van Doorn – Renegade

So I’m not going as far as to saying SvD stole anything from DJ Zinc, but “influenced” isn’t too far out there. I could, however, be completely wrong. Sander van Doorn might have never heard of Freenote. You have to admit though, they both sound alike, and use that Fender Rhodes sound.
My conspiracy theories aside, I think this tune is absolutely bangin’. Some people aren’t too happy with this as the Anthem for Trance Energy, but come on, listen to it! It’s perfect to be honest, and on a speaker system that will probably be bigger than your house, this song will be unbelievable. 4/5 Stars Heavy trance? Yes, but don’t let that stop you from taking a listen to this Sander van Doorn mix of Renegade:
